Parks, trails & waterfront
The Town of Oakville offers 1,420 hectares of parkland, over 300 kilometres of trails, and more than 200 parks, garden plots, off-leash dog parks, playgrounds, skateboard parks, splash pads, sports fields, tennis courts, two harbors and 31 waterfront parks. A number of parks are available to residents & visitors to host special events, such as ceremonies, photography and sporting events.

Recreation, arts & culture
Residents of all ages have easy access to recreational, cultural and artistic programmes & events, such as classes held at various Oakville facilities, including the brand new Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, exhibits at the Oakville Museum, as well as performances at the Oakville Centre for Performing Arts. The Oakville Public Library and Oakville Galleries also offer programs and services for all ages. A wide variety of exciting camps for children aged 4 to 14 are available during P.A. Days, March Break, summer, or holidays.

Education
Elementary schools and high schools in Oakville are a mix of private and public schools, with one of the highest ratios of private schools to student population in the country. Oakville is covered by the Halton District School Board, Halton Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire de district du Centre-Sud-Ouest, and Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud. The city is home to Appleby College, a private school for grades seven to twelve, established in 1911. Oakville is also home to Sheridan College, one of Ontario’s leading postsecondary institutions, educating students in the fields of arts, business, community service, health, technology, and the skilled trades.
