It’s many parks, recreational trails, country roads, conservation areas and its state-of-the-art outdoor ice-skating loop encourage hikers, cyclists, rock climbers, skaters and nature lovers to enjoy the natural landscapes of the escarpment. The Smokey Hollow trail with its lookout over Great Falls provides access to Canada’s oldest and longest footpath: the Bruce Trail.

Recreation, Arts & Culture
The YMCA and Waterdown’s brand new Youth Center offer a wide range of facilities and programs to serve you and your family. With the recent construction of the Harry Howell Arena and the opening of the brand new Waterdown Library and Civic Centre, residents of Waterdown benefit from ultramodern community-focused spaces, built for all ages to enjoy. Waterdown is also the home of the Village Theatre where people have been enjoying plays over the past 40+ years.

Education
The public and Catholic boards in Waterdown both provide elementary & secondary school education, some with French immersion programs. Waterdown is also home to the Waterdown Montessori School delivering a Montessori program to Toddlers, Preschoolers and children of JK & SK ages on the beautiful grounds of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. McMaster University, which has gained an international reputation for the innovative educational programming offered by each of its six faculties, is only a short drive from Waterdown.
